The musical group Chione Quintet will be at the Lanesboro Public Library on Thursday, June 2 at 4 p.m. to perform their enchanting story time program based on the book Shoua and the Northern Lights Dragon, written by Hmong-Minneapolis author Ka Vang. This event is free and open to the public, and audience members of all ages are invited to attend and be swept away on a musical, magical journey.
Vang’s book follows the story of quiet and shy Shoua, a young Hmong-American girl who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime when her grandfather takes her camping in the north woods of Minnesota. When Shoua chases a falling star and discovers an injured dragon, she is determined to save her newfound friend. But to do so, she will first need to find her voice and make a place for herself in her family.
Set to beautiful and moving music composed by Minnesotan Jocelyn Hagen, Chione will not only share the story of Shoua with the audience, but also the stories of each unique instrument that comes together to make up their wind quintet.
