Root River Inn has Three Properties, all on Downtown Lanesboro
Walk to the best of what our town has to offer
Our location on “main street” puts you just steps from food, drink, shops, arts and the theater. We’re right across the street from Juniper’s, the Root River State Bike Trail and the story phone.
The walk away from town brings you directly to the park, volleyball courts, tennis, pickleball, the waterfall and fishing. Put go tubing on the Root River, walkable to entry and exit points.
Walk up hill behind the property to the bell tower that serenades the town with it’s chimes several times a day and a scenic overlook to enjoy the waterfall, valley & sunset.
No matter how you’re looking to spend your time here, we are close to all of Lanesboro’s activities.

Root River Inn Resort Grounds
Rooms & Suites @ The Resort
The resort property, open seasonally, has gorgeous grounds and many outdoor amenities. Whether you want to have an evening bonfine, bbq your dinner or relax in an Adirondack, you’ll enjoy your outdoor time at the resort. The Root River Inn & Suites resort property also offers on site an on site concessions corner if you need a snack or cold drink. The locked indoor bike room also has a camera outside the door, keeping your bike secure is important to us! Plenty of outlets are available if your ebike needs to charge.
Don’t want to haul your bikes? Rent bikes from us and pick them up behind Paddle On.
In the bike room you can also store your fishing gear or rent rec equipment to enjoy other amenities in town. Rent sports equipment like tennis racquets, pickle ball paddles or a basketball and spend some time recreating at Sylvan Park.
You’ll have access to Coffee Commons on the 3rd floor for coffee, tea, instant oatmeal as well as books and games you can enjoy on site. There is a parking lot with limited parking, otherwise we recommend parking at Sylvan Park and enjoying town on foot.
These modern and newly renovated rooms are bright and airy even through they are in a historic property. They feature photography of the towns dotting the Root River Trail, and are right on the trail, just head down the stairs and cross the street to the old train bridge starting the trail out of town.

Mayoral Suite @ Paddle On
This suite is in the heart of Lanesboro and gives you the feel for living in town. Stay above it all and keep watch over town in this modern loft. With indoor stairs easily accessible from the sidewalk, this room is open year round and can be rented with weekly or monthly rates in the off-season.
This suite has access to the balcony behind the building, with a comfy couch and evening decorative lights. While this balcony can be used by coffeehouse guests during the day, the shop isn’t open in the evenings. You can enjoy overhearing live music at High Court or take a walk to the pedestrian bridge and watch the river flow.
Bike storage for this room is under the balcony, there is room to lock your bike up and it’s protected from the weather.

With a 10 min parking spot right outside the door, unloading is easy. When your done, utilize the parking at Bass Pond. It has a scenic pedestrian walkway that goes under the highway and will drop you off at Coffee Street & Parkway, the closest intersection to this suite. Leave your car in the lot, Lanesboro is best enjoyed by a leisurely walk.

King Rooms @ Iron Horse
These king rooms are centrally located in town on the main intersection of Parkway and Coffee. Enjoy a view of main street and the bluffs beyond in this historic building with extra tall windows. This building pays respect to the “iron horse” & Lanesboro’s railroad history with a sophisticated train theme.
Solidly crafted furniture and well designed rooms with enhance your time in the historic district. Guests here have morning and evening access to The Phoenix Lounge which has comfortable seating to enjoy a book or game as well as coffee, tea, water & ice.
Just steps away from both of Lanesboro’s theaters as well as all local eating and drinking establishments you’ll never be more than a walk away from a good time.
With indoor stairs easily accessible from the sidewalk, this building is open year round and can be rented with weekly or monthly rates in the off-season.
While this building doesn’t have any bike storage, there are public bike racks outside the building and also across there street, where you can keep an eye on it from your room.

It has a scenic pedestrian walkway that goes under the highway and will drop you off at Coffee Street & Parkway, the closest intersection to these rooms. Leave your car in the lot as you enjoy town, you’re in the center of everything and a car won’t get you there faster. Traveling by motorcyle? Motorcycle parking is available out front.
